FOR INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL USE
Overview:
This article is to help you understand a Y78 error, why there is one, its meaning, and how to resolve one.
What does a Y78 error mean:
If you receive a Y78 error, this likely means there may be an error(Is a mismatch?) with the sublocation code(s) on file with each HBL under the MBL. All HBLs under an MBL must be on file destined to the same SubLocation Code unless destined to specific Customs Warehouses.
An Example of a Y78 transmission from a filing:
How to resolve:
When trying to resolve the Y78 its best to first try the following steps:
- First, send a close to confirm the latest status of the HBL and confirm that the filing is still rejected with a Y78. (If you still received a Y78 please continue the steps)
- If the filing is still rejected with Y78:
Confirm with Carrier the correct SubLocation
- If different amend HBL
- If the same resend close
3. Then you would delete the close (Can only delete close if not already arrived, reported or Deconsolidation), update the Sub location codes (if necessary or if filed correctly the amendments will be blank), and file amendments.
4. Once the previous steps are completed, the system should auto-close and the Y78 will auto-resolve itself.
Below is an example of the transmissions from the audit log and how they should look, in order from receiving the error to the error is resolved:
